The Killer is the new film by David Fincher, the award-winning director of films like The Social Network and Seven.
In this new film, the main character, played by Michael Fasbender, is a professional assassin that In his last job he misses a shot that makes mission fail. As a result, hired assassins like him break into his house and almost kill his wife. From there, he does a search that will take him to various places in North America to hunt down the murderers who almost killed his wife.
It is a film whose strong point is not the frenetic action, but the methods that the protagonist has to achieve his goal. The dialogues are scarce and the long shots along with a soundtrack by Trend Reznor and quite a few songs by The Smiths make up a film that, during the first 40 minutes, hypnotizes you with its photography and the voice-over of the protagonist explaining how he does his job. From there, it slows down and when the end comes you get the feeling that it could have been more.
It is also a highly recommended film if you like thrillers and the director's style.
3,6 out 5.
